Las Vegas street challenge: How much do Americans know about Chinese smartphone brands?

Whether it’s automobiles or smartphones, the US is seen as the holy grail for Chinese brands.

But the world’s biggest economy has been largely shut to major Chinese smartphone brands like Huawei Technologies, even though they have gained market share in their home market and emerging markets against the likes of Apple’s iPhone and Samsung Electronics.

Our reporters were in Las Vegas last week for CES, the big annual tech gathering, and asked holidaymakers on the Strip whether they knew of any Chinese smartphone brands and if they would consider switching to one.
