Ahead of the Year of Tiger, a team of carvers led by Vietnamese artist Nguyen Tan Phat has spent months crafting 2,022 tigers in time to celebrate the start of the festival on February 1, 2022. They use natural materials such as jackfruit wood, laterite and shells found in the artist’s hometown to create a wide range of tiger figures, including some that require weeks of careful chiselling, painting and lacquering.
