Lea Li

Since it was released in early September 2019, a Cantonese song Glory to Hong Kong has been widely shared online, starting with the LIHKG forum – a digital platform which anti-government protesters primarily use to discuss tactics.

The song has since reached a wider audience, including some Hongkongers who regard it as the city’s “national anthem”, and it is regularly sung by groups suddenly gathering in shopping malls or parks as well as during larger demonstrations across the city.

The South China Morning Post spoke to the song’s composer, a young musician identified only as “Thomas dgx”.
