Now that you have your Jupas results, what is the next step?

A total of 16, 538 DSE candidates have been offered a place to study for a Bachelor’s degree at one of Hong Kong’s nine local universities through the Joint University Programmes Admissions System, which released application results this morning.

Of these students, almost 83 per cent (13, 723) received an offer to study in one of their top three choice of programmes. This is compared to 79 per cent last year.

The first ‘super top scorer’ Thomas Wong Tsz-hang, 18, who achieved 5** in 8 subjects as well as the math extended module 2 (M2), has been admitted to The University of Hong Kong’s Faculty of Medicine.

How that 2018 Jupas results are out, here’s how to deal with your university offers or make alternative plans for the future

Out of the total number of 46,703 Jupas applicants, 23, 346 (49.99 per cent) have been given a main round offer this year. Of these, 3,581 students have been offered places in associate degrees or higher diploma programmes, while 3,227 applicants have been offered bachelor’s degree programmes under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP) Programmes institutions.

For students still exploring other options, the application periods for self-financing undergraduate programmes at Shue Yan University and Hang Seng Management College are both open until August 31.

Tung Wah College will be accepting applications for self-financing courses and higher diploma programmes on Aug 9 and August 10 respectively, from 9.30am to 5.30pm.

The Vocational Training Council is also organising an admission day for students to apply for self-financing bachelor’s degree courses, higher diploma and other diploma programmes on August 6 from 9am to 5pm at the Institute Of Vocational Education (Haking Wong Campus) in Cheung Sha Wan.

Some associate degrees or higher diploma programmes are still available at HKU SPACE Community College Kowloon East Campus, and the Community College of City University. Students can walk in to apply from August 6 -7, from 10am to 6pm and 9am to 6pm respectively.

Students interested in sub-degree programmes at the Hong Kong Community College of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University can still walk in to their Hung Hom campus and apply on August 6, but they will be placed on a waiting list.
