What are you eating for lunch? Lunch is a very important meal but not many people put enough thought into what and how they lunch. 'My Food' magazine recently did a quick survey about what people eat for lunch on a work day when they don't have the time or the money to go to a restaurant or cook at home. Four office workers were asked what they are eating for lunch today.

Martin: I'm eating a chicken salad from the take-away place over there. I tend to grab and go when I’m at work. I've been eating a lot of salads recently as I'm trying to lose weight. In summer, it's much easier to eat more healthily because the weather is warmer, so it’s a bit of a struggle now winter is here. No creamy soups and thick chunks of bread! Many of my friends seem to be avoiding bread for dietary reasons these days. Still, sandwiches are popular with a lot of my colleagues all year round, but I'm avoiding bread totally at the moment.
Jenny: I’m having some crab rice with a green salad that I bought from tastyeat, a healthy take-away chain. There are four branches around here. I have a sandwich for lunch. I’m more into salads and fresh stuff. Sandwiches are heavy: I always feel a bit tired after eating one, and I don’t want to fall asleep at my desk in the afternoon. I need something light at lunchtime.
George: Today I’m eating a pasta salad from a supermarket. Pasta with prawns. It’s low in calories and healthy. I usually have salads at lunchtime, but I always buy them. I’m too lazy to make them myself. This salad has got fibre, protein and olive oil, which is good for the skin. And there’s some cheese in it as well. I run a lot after work so I need nutrients like fibre and protein in my diet.
Linda: I’m eating sushi, which I do every Monday. The other four days, I prepare something myself, usually a salad or something with rice. I never eat shop-bought sandwiches. I prefer a healthy home-made lunch. Tomorrow I will have a beetroot and carrot salad. I see a lot of my male colleagues eating a lunch of sandwiches with a packet of crisps. I don’t say anything to them, but it’s not a good idea to eat like that every day.
