Hong Kong’s best new restaurants and menus to try now daytime dining is back – eat Vietnamese at Xuân, Italian at Aria or Myanmese at Club Rangoon

Lunch is back on the menu, for now, so make the most of a chance to escape the home office and sample these restaurants, some new and some old favourites, including a pop-up by model-turned-pastry chef Amanda Strang

Lunch was cancelled but now it’s back on again! In Hong Kong, anyway, where authorities suddenly reversed short-term daytime dining restrictions – for those who want to celebrate this surprise turn of events there are several new openings as well as special menus around town to try.

The newest additions to Hong Kong’s restaurant scene includes a couple of Southeast Asian specialists including northern Vietnamese eatery Xuân and an exciting Myanmese concept Club Rangoon on the slopes of Aberdeen Street in Central.

Two new exciting pastry concepts that include model-turned-pastry chef Amanda Strang’s Flakes and Layers and a new churros concept is opening in Tsim Sha Tsui. In addition, a new location of Dim Sum Library opened its doors in the district's Elements mall.

Italian is the flavour of the month as the new Aria in California Tower at Lan Kwai Fong opened in July, as well as a special tour of Italy menu that is on offer at Casa Castellana. Read on to see what new offerings there are around town so you can make the most of your precious mealtimes.

Sophisticated Vietnamese cuisine has a new address. Situated in a sleek and pretty premises in Wan Chai’s Lun Fat Street, Xuân offers a modern and refined take on Northern Vietnamese fare. Take your pick of chicken phở that is made with local three-yellow chicken, 12-hour chicken broth, chicken oil, ginger and pickled garlic or the signature beef phở that is packed with Angus prime rib, braised beef tongue and oxtail served with home-made 24-hour beef broth and a Chinese doughnut to soak it all up.

California Tower welcomes a new addition on its 24th floor. With vistas of Hong Kong’s Central district, this Italian eatery promises to bring rustic Italian to the refined palates of the city’s diners. Signature dishes include pizza al tartufo, prosciutto di Parma, Milanese veal cutlet and Parmesan ravioli.
