Bonnae Gokson bakes ‘Pride’ cake as Hong Kong restaurants and bars celebrate Girl Power

Sevva’s chiffon sponge cake celebrates womanhood as Beef and Liberty, Beefbar and Wahtiki Island Lounge offer special girls’ nights out
International Women’s Day, on March 8, is being celebrated by several food and beverage outlets this year. The “Queen of Cakes”, Bonnae Gokson has crafted an “haute cake” named “Pride”, which she says is her salute to womanhood throughout history and the world.

“I would like to celebrate women throughout history and across nations – as mothers, wives and friends as well as for their achievements and inner strength,” says the restaurateur who founded Sevva, Ms B’s Cakery and C’est La B.
The chiffon sponge cake with coconut and lychee cream encompasses Gokson’s style, taste and creativity. Gluten free, the cake is also topped with an exquisite sugarart flower bouquet symbolising the vibrancy of life and energy of womanhood.

The Pride cake, in original and gluten-free versions, is available at Sevva, Ms B’s Cakery and C’est La B until the end of March 2018. Proceeds of the cakes’ sales will be donated to Women Helping Women for a good cause.

Beef and Liberty also do their bit for charities by donating to The Women’s Foundation HK all proceeds from March 8 sales of their Oreo Shot desserts – that’s chocolate espuma, Oreo and vanilla ice-cream, ladies.
