Department of Government Efficiency (Doge)
The Department of Government Efficiency (Doge): a United States-based governmental body, Doge was established by executive order on 20 January 2025, operating from the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington under Elon Musk. It is a rebranded iteration of the United States Digital Service, with a stated mission of modernising federal technology, maximising governmental efficiency and productivity, and significantly reducing regulations and spending. Doge has come under criticism for overreach of authority, obtaining access to traditionally secure data, and for cuts overseen by Musk that critics said were arbitrary, partisan and damaging to the proper running of government, as well as not significantly reducing running costs at all.
