Over the last two decades, Marissa Anita has made a big impact on the Indonesian film and TV industry, first as a familiar face on Metro TV as a journalist and presenter, and now as a rising star in the country’s film industry. Collecting numerous awards and nominations for her work in films such as Ali & Ratu Ratu Queens and In the Absence of the Sun, Anita is using her platform to talk about female representation in the Asian film industry. Anita speaks with Post reporter Alkira Reinfrank about what it means to bring a “feminist conscience” when choosing roles and what why more complex female characters are needed on screen.

Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of Warsaw on January 28, 2021, to protest against a Polish government move to start implementing an abortion ban based on a ruling by one of the country’s top courts. Poland's Constitutional Tribunal decided in October 2020, to ban all abortions except in cases of rape, incest, or where the mother's life or health are at risk. Demonstrators rallied at the location where the tribunal meets, breaking into a courtyard of the building, leading to several arrests by police.
