The Uefa Champions League is an annual continental competition for the top football clubs in Europe. It is one of the most prestigious tournaments in world football and the biggest prize in European football. Introduced in 1992, the competition replaced the European Cup, which had run since 1955. Real Madrid are the most successful club in the competition’s history with 12 titles. Real Madrid were champions for a second successive time in the 2016-17 season, beating Serie A giants Juventus in the final.
