FARE Classic Italian

AMBIENCE The dining area itself is not large, with only about 10 tables and a bar. There is a lounge area just outside the restaurant where you can choose to eat as well. The restaurant decor is tasteful and cosy.

COST Antipasti range between HK$128 to HK$230; pasta is priced from HK$218 to HK$328; and the most expensive mains are about HK$500.

WHO TO BRING Significant others or close friends.

TURN-ONS The Wagyu beef carpaccio with Hari sauce ($228) was a great choice to start the meal with. The Wagyu was lean and blood red and served with cheese and arugula. We could not quite tell what was in the Hari sauce but it was delicious.

The cavatelli pasta with Alaskan king crab (HK$328) was absolutely the highlight of our meal. The pasta was firm and buttery, but also came with a spicy kick. They ran out of sea bream and offered the sea bass in salted crust (HK$528). As with the other dishes, it was flavourful although tasted a tad overcooked.

We also liked the baked eggplant (HK$268) for its firm texture but would have preferred a little more cheese with it. We ended with the obligatory and generous tiramisu (HK$118).

TURN-OFFS It was a toss-up between the black mussels and the baked scampi (HK$188) and we were firmly recommended the scampi. Unfortunately, the scampi wasn’t as fresh as we had expected, which was a shame because the seasoning of Amalfi lemon and olive oil was amazing. Still, the staff were apologetic and immediately took it off the bill with no fuss.

DRINKS They have a modest number of cocktails and a nice selection of wines from very affordable labels to rarer vintages.
