K-pop group Vixx give fans what they want with Japnese album Reincarnation’ [Review]
It was only in April that K-pop six-piece Vixx dropped their third album Eaux De Vixx, but they are back again, this time with their Japanese album Reincarnation.
It features many of the tracks from Eaux De Vixx, such as My Valentine, Shangri-La, Circle and Scientist, but they have been reworked for the Japanese market.
Opener Reincarnation and closer Shangri-La show the most variety, with constantly changing rhythms and moods. Lyrically, the group have returned to their floral theme: Scientist features lyrics like, “A sweet experiment/ Harvesting the tears from the petals/ The fallen tears bloom anew again”.

Sugar and My Valentine have a jazz lounge sparkle to them, and allow the boys to show off a much smoother singing style.
But Not For Me and Navy & Shining Gold are probably the strongest tracks here, and most likely to resonate most with their target audience. With the bouncing trap beats, and more excitable, explosive choruses, these feel like classic J-pop tunes.
While Vixx get a lot right on Reincarnation, the album does feel like it’s trying to tick all the boxes.
