Carly (Nichola Burley) is in love with fellow street dancer Jay (Ukweli Roach). Their dance crew has reached the finals of the UK Street Dance Championships. But Carly's world crumples when Jay leaves her - and the crew. She must prove she can step in and lead the team to victory.
The crew loses their rehearsal space, but salvation seems to come in the form of ballet mistress Helena (Charlotte Rampling), who offers them the dance studio in her academy. There is one condition: the team must work with her dancers and include them in their final dance.
Like other dance films, StreetDance 3D is packed with energetic steps and music, which successfully build tension. All the dances are there for a reason, forming crucial parts of the storyline and reflecting the changing attitudes of the differently-trained dancers towards each other.
The clashing dance styles make for great visuals, although the plot is rather predictable.
StreetDance 3D is the directorial debut for Max Giwa and Dania Pasquini, but audiences will be eager to see future creations from the pair, all the while shaking their bodies.
