United Nations Messenger of Peace Dr Jane Goodall (read last Wednesday's History-makers) believes we can change the world.
Goodall, well known for her studies on chimpanzees, created the Roots & Shoots programme in 1991.
Through the programme, she hopes to connect young people of all ages and give them the hope and means to build a better world.
This summer, the programme is organising the Roots & Shoots Asia Pacific Youth Summit. If you are concerned about the challenges facing our planet and want to help find solutions, don't miss it.
The free event, from August 28 to 30, aims to create solutions for environmental and humanitarian issues. On August 28 and 29, participants will take part in workshops and discussion groups before obtaining their Summit certificates. August 30 will be more lecture-based, and there will be a small Eco Festival.
Participants will talk to Goodall and Jill Robinson, founder of the Animals Asia Foundation. If you'd like to join the workshops, lecture or both, visit www.rootsandshoots.org.hk and fill in the registration form. Include 100 words on why you want to attend the summit.
School groups can also attend on August 30: for group/class bookings, teachers should e-mail [email protected] to reserve a spot. Places for this inspiring and exciting event are limited and registration closes on June 30, so hurry!
