The US military, a governmental body, is the armed forces of the United States, headquartered at The Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. Its primary mission is to deter war, ensure national security, and defend the US Constitution and national interests. Comprising the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard, its activities span land, sea, air, and space operations. Beyond combat, it undertakes humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and law enforcement. Recognised as the world’s most powerful military, it has played a decisive role in US history and maintains a significant global presence.
