Racing Incident Report
Race One : (685) - MAISONS-LAFFITTE HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 PODIUM (H173) E Brown E Brown stated that when his mount jumped well tonight he was able to hold a more forward position than its previous race starts.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 PRINCE ALEX (G307) H Bentley Bumped shortly after the start.
Held up on the Home Turn.
Horse No 3 SETANTA (G095) L Ferraris Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 NOBLE FANS (K038) R Kingscote Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with DOUBLE BINGO.
Horse No 5 TELECOM POWER (J332) M Chadwick Bumped shortly after the start.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 DOUBLE BINGO (J309) M F Poon Jumped only fairly and then was steadied when crowded between WINDICATOR FAMILY and NOBLE FANS, both of which shifted ground.
Passing the 1500 Metres was steadied when momentarily crowded by ZETTA FORCE which lay in and away from SETANTA despite the efforts of its rider.
Approaching the 400 Metres made contact with DRAGON SUNRISE when that runner lay in and away from SETANTA.
M F Poon stated that after jumping only fairly and being crowded at the start his mount settled further back in the field than had been intended.
He added when the pace of the event increased from the 800 Metres DOUBLE BINGO did not respond to his riding and finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 WINDICATOR FAMILY (H419) K C Leung Bumped shortly after the start.
Passing the 1500 Metres was steadied to avoid NOBLE FANS (R Kingscote) which shifted in when not clear.
R Kingscote was reprimanded.
When questioned regarding his riding in the early stages and as to whether there was an opportunity to go forward of PODIUM to avoid racing wide K C Leung stated that the instructions were to take up a midfield position.
He said when his mount jumped well it held a forward position.
He added that when positioned to the outside of PODIUM he was reluctant to allow his mount to stride forward as he was of the opinion this would be in contrast to the instructions that had been issued.
He said as a result WINDICATOR FAMILY was obliged to race wide and without cover until near the 800 Metres before giving ground in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 DRAGON SUNRISE (J269) Z Purton Approaching the 1500 Metres was steadied when crowded between ZETTA FORCE and SETANTA (L Ferraris) which shifted in when not clear.
L Ferraris was reprimanded.
Approaching the 400 Metres lay in and made contact with DOUBLE BINGO.
Z Purton could offer no excuse for the horse's failure to run on in the Home Straight.
Trainer K W Lui stated that the horse had pleased him leading into the race but could offer no excuse for its performance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Punted late Podium straightening fourth and one off the fence and after surging to the lead 150m out, he just scrambled in for back-to-back wins despite carrying 9lb more. He will have to raise his game in Class Four next time out. Setanta rattled home late down the outside to just miss after making his run one off travelling behind midfield. It was a return to form wearing blinkers over his favourite Valley 1,650m. Wah May Wai Wai kept on well for third after a one-off trip travelling midfield from gate 12. It was another honest performance. Well-backed to jump favourite Telecom Power ran on steadily through the centre for fourth after a handy run along the inside from gate one. He had no excuse. Zetta Force was doing his best work late for fifth after biding his time fourth last from gate four. Manythanks Forever was yielding ground over the final 100m after clearing to lead 1,000m out from gate 11. He's more effective at Sha Tin. Smiling Emperor ran on without threatening after making his run third last. Early favourite Dragon Sunrise failed to produce a whimper travelling last from gate five. It was another costly performance.
