Firming late, Real Fit led from a middle gate, cornered a length on top and just held off the late surge of Oriental Prosper for a maiden win at his 12 th start with a key switch to the dirt. Oriental Prosper settled midfield and three deep with cover, swung the final bend widest out and closed off well to make it a thriller on the wire. Favourite Confucius Elite was handy with cover two-to-three deep, bumped twice while pulling out with two wider upon straightening before finishing off well to grab a placing 60m out. Sunshine Kid stalked the leader one off and came up one-paced over the final 150m. Jun Ju was ridden cold at the tail from an inside gate, peeled into the clear with two wider at the 250m and made some progress late without menacing. Precious Gem saved ground in midfield and kept plugging away in an improved performance with a switch to the dirt. Horse Supremo travelled fourth along the rails and gradually yielded ground over the final 200m in his first go on the dirt. Novel Start was gone soon after straightening after three-deep run without cover on the speed. Easy Success made his run third from the rear and two off the rails and never was a factor.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (033)-MEI TIN HANDICAP (Sec1) - Class 4 - 1200Metres

LOADS OF JOY was withdrawn on 23.9.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore).

Before being allowed to race again, LOADS OF JOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

For some distance approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, HORSE SUPREMO proved very difficult to settle and got its head up when travelling keenly.

Approaching the 800 Metres, JUN JU was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PRECIOUS GEM which was racing tight inside ORIENTAL PROSPER.

Passing the 800 Metres, EASY SUCCESS proved difficult to settle.

At the entrance to the Straight, CONFUCIUS ELITE and ORIENTAL PROSPER bumped.

Passing the 200 Metres, ORIENTAL PROSPER shifted in under pressure, resulting in its rider, J Moreira, changing his whip into his right hand.

Throughout the race, NOVEL START travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned, B Prebble stated that EASY SUCCESS did not travel comfortably at any stage of the race and on pulling up made an abnormal breathing noise.

A veterinary inspection of EASY SUCCESS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

CONFUCIUS ELITE, REAL FIT and ORIENTAL PROSPER were sent for sampling.
