Newcomer Dilly settled fourth and one off the rails, rounded the final bend five deep and quickened well to just get up for the win in a blanket finish. Triumphant Jewel landed in the box seat from a wide gate, cornered four deep, had to switch off the heels of Fun 'N' Games at the 200m, was forced further out by the same horse at the 100m and had to steady between runners 50m out. He should have won with a clean trip. Brilliant Proposal led as expected, was still nearly three lengths clear on straightening and was swamped at the post. Fun 'N' Games went forward from a wide gate to sit one off in second, straightened three deep and hung out under pressure to just miss a placing. Excel Oneself settled three deep in midfield without cover, swung the final bend with three wider out and ran on steadily to finish level for fourth. St Yazin straightened five deep after travelling behind midfield, switched off the heels inside at the 150m and made progress late to just finish out of a Quartet spot. Eye On You was last at the 300m and closed off nicely in his first run of the term. Perpetual Treasure was outside St Yazin and made some ground in a pleasing debut. Favourite Racing Mate never made an impression after travelling fourth from the rear.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (456)-THE POLICE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1000Metres

RACING MATE was crowded for room on jumping between CALIFORNIA CHARIOT and PERPETUAL TREASURE, both of which shifted ground.

In this incident, PERPETUAL TREASURE became unbalanced after making contact with RACING MATE.

AMBITIOUS KING began only fairly.

From a wide barrier, EYE ON YOU was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After being left racing very wide after the 800 Metres, FANTASTICO was steadied to obtain a position with cover towards the rear of the field.

Near the 650 Metres, DILLY shifted out away from the heels of TRIUMPHANT JEWEL (M L Yeung) which shifted in when not properly clear, resulting in AMBITIOUS KING having to be steadied away from the heels of DILLY.

RACING MATE, which was following, was hampered in consequence.

M L Yeung was reprimanded and advised to be sufficiently clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

Passing the 200 Metres, ST YAZIN was shifted to the inside of DILLY to continue improving.

After improving to be racing outside of the heels of FUN 'N' GAMES near the 100 Metres, TRIUMPHANT JEWEL was crowded for room passing the 50 Metres between DILLY and FUN 'N' GAMES (N Callan) which, when being ridden along, got its head on the side and shifted out under pressure away from BRILLIANT PROPOSAL (Apprentice C Y Lui) which was also shifting out.

Both N Callan and Apprentice Lui were reprimanded.

Passing the winning post, FUN 'N' GAMES raced tight between BRILLIANT PROPOSAL and TRIUMPHANT JEWEL.

A veterinary inspection of RACING MATE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

RACING MATE, DILLY and TRIUMPHANT JEWEL were sent for sampling.
