Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Bernard's Choice was ridden quietly at the rear, weaved a run near the inside and got up 50m out for a third win from seven rides under Zac Purton. Everyone's Choice settled three deep with cover in midfield, rounded the final bend five deep, hit the front 160m out and tossed the race away when hanging out over the final 120m. Precious Gem held the rails underneath leader Novel Start, claimed the front 400m out and was giving way 100m out to just hold Trendiful for a placing. Trendiful travelled among the backmarkers one off the fence, shifted six deep for a clear run at the 400m and finished up reasonably well despite hanging further out under pressure over the last 150m. Black Star settled one off the rails in midfield, was held up three deep from the 400m until pulling off the heels off the tiring Novel Start for clear running at the 200m and finished nicely thereafter in an improved performance with a gear change. Cosmo One came up flat in the final 200m following a prominent run with cover. Joyful Luck recovered following a sluggish start to settle midfield along the fence at the 800m, stayed to the inside upon straightening and only held his ground over the final 200m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (525)-DENGSHIKOU HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Metres

SEA FURY was withdrawn on 10.4.15 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right fore tendon re-injury) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter EVERYONE'S CHOICE (N Callan).

Before being allowed to race again, SEA FURY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

JOYFUL LUCK was slow to begin.

TRENDIFUL and MANIPULATION bumped at the start.

A short distance after the start, TRENDIFUL was then crowded for room between ENJOY THE FUN and MANIPULATION which shifted in.

After this, TRENDIFUL was shifted across behind runners.

Despite being aggressively ridden in the early stages, SOLAR BOY failed to muster speed and then raced very wide and without cover throughout the race.

ENJOY THE FUN also travelled wide and without cover throughout the race.

JOYFUL LUCK was held up for running in the early part of the Straight when unable to improve inside PRECIOUS GEM where there was insufficient room.

HELEN'S CHOICE lay out in the early part of the Straight.

BLACK STAR was held up from the 350 Metres until passing the 200 Metres when unable to obtain clear running initially behind NOVEL START and then COSMO ONE.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on TRENDIFUL at the request of Trainer C S Shum.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, TRENDIFUL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of JOYFUL LUCK and NOVEL START immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

BERNARD'S CHOICE and EVERYONE'S CHOICE were sent for sampling.
