Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Ten Flames settled nicely one off with cover in midfield, took closer order coming to the final bend, straightened four deep and wore down Joyeux in deep stretch for an overdue maiden win at his 11th start. He remains one to follow. Joyeux eventually cleared to lead 850m out, cornered near two lengths on top and kept up a good gallop. Rugby Diamond settled at the tail from a wide gate, swung the final bend five deep and finished nicely at a price to grab a placing. Winning Boy was ridden with patience third from the rear from a wide gate, straightened three from the right and closed off well to fill a Quartet spot. Planet Choice held the rails in third after handing up at the 850m, came one off upon straightening and was only one-paced under the pump over the final 200m. Plenty Of Speed was held up early straight behind the fading Planet Choice following a rail's run in midfield and didn't do much with clear running 200m out. Golden Bauhinia went forward from a tricky gate to press the leader 600m out, straightened five deep and was stopping 200m out. Jolly Posh was gone soon after straightening after a deep run with cover in midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (051)-DIANTHUS HANDICAP (Sec1) - Class 4 - 1200Metres

On arrival at the Start, B Prebble expressed concern regarding the action of RUGBY DIAMOND.

RUGBY DIAMOND was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said after the necessary consultations the horse was suitable to race.

Shortly after the start, SPITFIRE and PLENTY OF SPEED raced tight between PLANET CHOICE and TEN FLAMES which shifted in.

A short distance after the start, PLENTY OF SPEED was steadied when crowded for room between TEN FLAMES and SPITFIRE which was taken out by PLANET CHOICE which got its head on the side and shifted ground.

From wide barriers, RUGBY DIAMOND, WINNING BOY and PEACE ON EARTH were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 900 Metres, TEN FLAMES, which was travelling keenly, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SPITFIRE.

Near the 800 Metres, SOLAR KID was awkwardly placed close to the heels of JOLLY POSH which was steadied when obtaining cover behind GOLDEN BAUHINIA.

Passing the 700 Metres, PLENTY OF SPEED shifted out marginally when awkwardly placed close to the heels of PLANET CHOICE, resulting in the horse racing tight inside TEN FLAMES.

SNOWHOOVES, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence.

For some distance after the 600 Metres, SNOWHOOVES got its head up when proving difficult to settle and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PLENTY OF SPEED.

After the 500 Metres, PLENTY OF SPEED got its head on the side and lay in.

JOLLY POSH lost its right front plate on the Home Turn.

After the 300 Metres, PLENTY OF SPEED, which was continuing to lay in, again shifted in when awkwardly placed inside the heels of PLANET CHOICE which shifted in.

Throughout the race, GOLDEN BAUHINIA travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of PLENTY OF SPEED and JOLLY POSH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

TEN FLAMES and JOYEUX were sent for sampling.
