Recap by phillip woo

Natural Eight was still fourth or fifth from the rear coming to the final bend with two wider out, shifted out for a clear run at the 350m and quickened well to get up by a whisker for a third win from 19 starts. Down in grade with a tongue-tie on, the late-plunged Victory Emperor improved from near the back to sit midfield coming to the final bend, switched widest at the top of the straight, swept to the front 80m out and was nipped on the wire. Thunderstroke strolled forward to lead at the 1,100m from Chans Delight, was pestered by Happy Goal 650m out, built a near half-length advantage upon straightening and grudgingly gave way in an improved run with a drop in grade. Ever Shiny came from last after pulling widest out at the 400m to just miss a placing in a photo. Chans Delight eased back to sit fifth along the fence after leading early on, stayed to the inside upon straightening and kept on better in an improved run. O'Socoole cornered with three wider out and peaked on his run 100m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (055)-BOSTON HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Metres

After being loaded, BERNARD'S CHOICE became fractious, resulting in the barrier blanket worn by that horse being dislodged.

BERNARD'S CHOICE was removed from the barriers in order for the barrier blanket to be reapplied.

Before being allowed to race again, BERNARD'S CHOICE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

BERNARD'S CHOICE shifted out at the start and bumped BORNFREE.

COPY STAR began only fairly and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of NATURAL EIGHT which shifted out after beginning awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, EVERYONE'S CHOICE shifted in and bumped GOLDEN CHOICE.

From wide barriers, FORTUNE TERRITORY and EVER SHINY were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

HAPPY GOAL (T H So) was aggressively ridden for some distance in the early part of the race to obtain a forward position.

In the Straight, when giving ground, HAPPY GOAL got its head on the side and lay in.

After the race, T H So reported that HAPPY GOAL did not feel comfortable in its action during the race.

A veterinary inspection of HAPPY GOAL immediately following the race revealed the horse to be lame in its right hind leg.

Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY GOAL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Making the first turn after the 900 Metres, HAPPY GOAL got its head on the side, shifted in and was awkwardly placed outside the heels of GOLDEN CHOICE.

Passing the 900 Metres, CHANS DELIGHT was reluctant to maintain its position inside GOLDEN CHOICE.

After the 800 Metres, EVERYONE'S CHOICE was left racing wide and without cover.

Rounding the Home Turn, GOLDEN CHOICE and EVERYONE'S CHOICE bumped as GOLDEN CHOICE attempted to shift out from behind HAPPY GOAL.

VICTOR EMPEROR got its head on the side and lay out making the Home Turn.

NATURAL EIGHT was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.

Near the 150 Metres, EVERYONE'S CHOICE was awkwardly placed inside the heels of O'SOCOOLE which shifted in under pressure.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BERNARD'S CHOICE, Z Purton stated that the mare became agitated in the barriers due to the barrier blanket being dislodged.

He said BERNARD'S CHOICE travelled only fairly in the race and then did not finish off as anticipated.

A veterinary inspection of BERNARD'S CHOICE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

A veterinary inspection of EVERYONE'S CHOICE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
