Recap by phillip woo

Firming as the public elect Super Silks quickened well four deep following a one-off run in midfield to lead 200m out and just held off Willie Way over the final 100m to score an overdue win after placing in six of his opening 11 starts. Willie Way settled behind midfield along the fence, angled into the open five deep and finished well to make it close on the wire. Sum Win Dragon stayed on well near the inside following a box-seat run for a placing despite tracking a fast pace. Specked late, Kerkeni ran on well with two wider out after travelling third from the rear to fill a Quartet spot. Holmes Legend bided his time one off the fence in midfield, peeled widest rounding the final bend and kept grinding away without menacing. Wealthy Fortune only held his ground following a rail's run in midfield. He needs wet going. Monsieur Mogok made some ground with one wider out after travelling fourth from the rear from a wide gate. Beauty Love went forward from a wide gate to press the genuine pace of Mister Marc and was stopping 150m out. Leowl was gone 250m out after a prominent run one off the fence.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (597)-DAEJEON HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800Metres

BEAUTY LOVE and LEOWL bumped heavily at the start, resulting in LEOWL becoming unbalanced.

WILLIE WAY began only fairly and shortly after the start was bumped by SUPER SILKS which shifted in after making contact with the hindquarters of MISTER MARC on jumping.

ONE OF A KIND and KERKENI were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

Passing the winning position on the first occasion, HOLMES LEGEND was momentarily crowded for room between WEALTHY FORTUNE and MONSIEUR MOGOK (G Lerena) which shifted in.

G Lerena was advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to do more than he did on this occasion to prevent his mount from shifting ground.

Near the 1150 Metres, INDIGO WAY was steadied away from the heels of MONSIEUR MOGOK which shifted in.

For a considerable distance in the early and middle stages, LEOWL raced keenly and was steadied away from the heels of BEAUTY LOVE and consequently gave ground in the Straight.

KERKENI had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.

Passing the 450 Metres, MONSIEUR MOGOK was awkwardly placed between WILLIE WAY and HOLMES LEGEND.

After the race, Z Purton reported that after being ridden along to obtain a forward position from barrier 11, BEAUTY LOVE relaxed quite well for him, however, the race was being run at a good tempo.

He said the tempo of the race and the fact that BEAUTY LOVE was carrying top weight and is relatively inexperienced were the principal reasons for the horse's disappointing performance.

A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY LOVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of LEOWL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SUPER SILKS and WILLIE WAY were sent for sampling.
