Racing Incident Report
Race Four: (615)-THE VICTORIA RACING CLUB TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 1 - 1800Metres
ENSURING and ROMANTIC TOUCH bumped at the start.Shortly after the start, ENSURING shifted in and bumped HARBOUR MASTER.
From the outside barrier, PHOTON WILLIE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
In the early part of the Straight, ENSURING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of STAR MAJESTIC and tight inside ROMANTIC TOUCH when momentarily held up for clear running.
When questioned regarding the performance of GOT FLY, J Moreira stated that after obtaining a position in about midfield, his mount was unable to quicken when the pace increased after the 500 Metres.
He said whilst GOT FLY was disappointing when unable to improve its position to prevent KING GENKI from shifting out in the Straight, nonetheless he believed that the manner in which the race was run which resulted in the leaders being advantaged provided a legitimate reason for the horse being beaten as, in his opinion, GOT FLY finished off the race only fairly.
A veterinary inspection of GOT FLY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GOT FLY, JUN HUO and TWIN DELIGHT were sent for sampling.

Jun Huo travelled nicely one off in second behind Twin Delight's slow pace, rushed to the front 200m out and kept on gamely to make it back-to-back Valley wins despite a rise in trip. Twin Delight cornered a half-length on top after enjoying his own way up front and grudgingly gave way. Star Majestic rounded the final bend with three wider out after a prominent run with cover and stayed on well to edge King Genki for third. He doesn't have much upside but is too honest at the Valley to ever dismiss. King Genki plugged on nicely three deep following a box-seat run to just miss a placing in an improved performance. Ensuring was closing the gap late when gaining a clear run with two wider out at the 200m after travelling third from the rear to just miss a Quartet spot in a livelier performance with a return to blinkers despite an unfavourable pace. Romantic Touch producing only a grinding effort with one wider out upon straightening following a one-off run in midfield. He was anchored by the big weight. Favourite Got Fly made no impression following a rails run in midfield. Photon Willie wasn't suited by the pace of the race and never got going from the back.
