Recap by phillip woo

Late-fancied favourite Mr Bogart jumped nicely to enjoy a lovely run one-out, one-back, advanced to the front 300m out and found another gear when Eroico came at him 150m out to give trainer John Moore a milestone 1,500th winner. He remains one to follow. Eroico finished well three deep following a prominent run along the fence but was no match for the winner. Merion travelled third from the rear, peeled widest out upon straightening and finished willingly to come home a clear third. Almababy worked to the front from gate eight, straightened a length on top and grudgingly gave way over the final 150m. Early favourite Key Witness kept up a steady gallop four deep upon straightening following a rails run in midfield. Super Lifeline was only plodding with one wider out following a deep run travelling worse than midfield. I'm In Charge only held his ground following a handy run. Country Melody made some ground without menacing with two wider out following a one-off run behind midfield. Tonyboy settled fourth from the rear after blowing the start and failed to get into the race.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten: (734)-AMBER HANDICAP (Sec2) - Class 2 - 1200Metres

HELLA HEDGE blundered badly on jumping, resulting in its rider, C K Tong, becoming badly unbalanced.

HELLA HEDGE subsequently travelled wide and without cover throughout the race.

TONYBOY was crowded for room on jumping between KEY WITNESS and MR BOGART which shifted out after being bumped by I'M IN CHARGE.

In this incident, KEY WITNESS became badly unbalanced.

TONYBOY was then ridden along to obtain a forward position, however, was unable to muster speed.

From wide barriers, MERION and LUCKY DOUBLE EIGHT were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

I'M IN CHARGE lost its left front plate in the early stages.

Approaching the 500 Metres, ALMABABY got its head on the side and lay out, resulting in MR BOGART, which was racing outside ALMABABY, being taken out onto HELLA HEDGE which became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by MR BOGART passing the 500 Metres.

EROICO was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.

Near the 250 Metres, LUCKY DOUBLE EIGHT was shifted out away from the heels of HELLA HEDGE which was giving ground.

Passing the 200 Metres, SUPER LIFELINE and MERION bumped, resulting in MERION becoming unbalanced.

A veterinary inspection of TONYBOY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

MR BOGART and EROICO were sent for sampling.
