Old-timer Ocean Roar jumped alertly and kept finding on the lead to notch a ninth win over this course and distance. He had put the writing on the wall last time out and a victory was no surprise but will likely find it harder with a return to Class Three. Favourite Beauty Connection was closing the gap late following a box-seat run to finish a clear-cut second. He doesn't know how to run a bad race over this Valley trip but keeps finding one or a few too good. Hot Hot Pepper made a steady bid to snatch a placing after taking until the 600m to find some cover one-off travelling fore of midfield from a wide gate in his first try over the minimum trip at the Valley. He continues to go close without winning and needs to drop further in the handicaps. Trendiful kept on evenly following a one-out, one-back run in his first start since October. He looked overweight in the paddock and may need another run or two to find top form. Unleashed Dragon was getting going late after travelling worse than midfield. The 1,200m at this course may be what he wants. Secret Agent had no excuses following a rail's run in midfield. The big weight continued to anchor him.

Race One: (418)-VILLAGE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Metres

MASSIVE MILLENNIUM bounded in the air at the start and lost ground.

GLOBE TROTTER began awkwardly and then, despite being ridden along in the early stages, failed to muster speed.

In the early part of the Straight, HOT HOT PEPPER lay in and was reluctant to shift to the outside of TRENDIFUL and near the 100 Metres shifted in, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten.

A veterinary inspection of GLOBE TROTTER and RUGBY DIAMOND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

OCEAN ROAR and BEAUTY CONNECTION were sent for sampling.
