Firming favourite Smart Salute shouldered into the clear 250m out following a box-seat run, hit the front 150m out and held off Atomic Blast for a first win at his 18th start with a return to Class Five. He's come right in his past two starts following a step to the 1,650m and might have the tools to win off a lightweight in a higher grade. Atomic Blast finished nicely after landing a spot one off behind midfield from a wide gate to grab second 100m out. He too has turned things around in his past few following a step to the mile at the Valley and should be winning shortly. Precisioncraftsman has been showing some positive signs in recent runs and got home well following a patient ride to grab third 50m out. Yourthewonforme peaked on his run 100m out after hitting the front 250m following a midfield run. He had his chance and might be better suited over a shorter trip. Speedy Wally ran on steadily without menacing from behind midfield. Prefer him over the 1,800m. Agiaal was always short of room in the drive following a rails run in midfield. He had excuses and is another who will likely be better over a longer trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (436)-FANLING HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Metres

From the outside barrier, RISING POWER was steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

For some distance after passing the winning post on the first occasion, SPEEDY WALLY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of YOURTHEWONFORME.

Approaching the 1300 Metres, YOURTHEWONFORME momentarily raced in restricted room inside SUPERNATURAL which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GREAT SPEED.

Passing the 1300 Metres, SUPERNATURAL got its head on the side and commenced to lay out and then travelled wide and without cover throughout the race.

Passing the 1100 Metres, SPEEDY WALLY commenced to prove very difficult to settle and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of AGIAAL.

Near the 450 Metres, ISLAND FLYER and YOURTHEWONFORME raced tight as YOURTHEWONFORME shifted out from behind SUPERNATURAL to obtain clear running.

In the early part of the Straight, SPEEDY WALLY got its head on the side and lay in and then over the concluding stages hung in and proved difficult to ride.

Near the 300 Metres, SUPERNATURAL shifted in away from YOURTHEWONFORME (B Prebble), resulting in SUPERNATURAL brushing SMART SALUTE.

A short distance later, SUPERNATURAL, which was commencing to give ground, got its head up when checked due to crowding between SMART SALUTE which shifted out marginally and YOURTHEWONFORME which also shifted in.

B Prebble was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Over the final 50 Metres, AGIAAL was unable to obtain clear running and then over the concluding stages LUCKY FRIENDS raced tight inside AGIAAL which shifted in when being steadied away from the heels of YOURTHEWONFORME.

Passing the 50 Metres, ATOMIC BLAST shifted in under pressure, resulting in its rider having to straighten the horse.

A veterinary inspection of SUPERNATURAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SMART SALUTE and ATOMIC BLAST were sent for sampling.
