Recap by phillip woo

Strathclyde rushed to the front 200m out after peeling out following a box-seat run and held off Star Superior for a win with a step up in distance and switch to the dirt. This opens up options on both surfaces and he should be winning more races next season. Star Superior closed off well to grab second 100m out after having to covering ground in midfield. He isn't far off a win after catching the eye in back-to-back dirt sprints. Giddy Giddy kept on well for a placing after stalking the leader Fish N' Chips. He's finding it hard on a win line at this level but does like this surface. Massive Millennium finished well down the outside to get the bob down for a Quartet spot after settling fourth from the rear following a sluggish break. He was an early season winner at the Valley but has gone well twice following a switch to the dirt and will be hard to beat if he gets the points needed for a drop in class. Smiling Glory ran on steadily after travelling behind midfield. He can win if he lines up in a Class Five dirt sprint. Favourite Goldie Flanker ran on without menacing near the inside. He's better coming down the outside with clear sailing but the sharp rise in weight did take its toll as well.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (755)-RUBY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Metres

MASSIVE MILLENNIUM began awkwardly.

STRATHCLYDE shifted in at the start and bumped the hindquarters of SMILING GLORY.

From a wide barrier, CREME BRULEE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Passing the 600 Metres, HAPPY SEA DRAGON was checked away from the heels of SMILING GLORY which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BUMBLE BABY.

ROCHFORD was inclined to lay out making the turn after the 700 Metres.

Throughout the race, STAR SUPERIOR travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the performance of GOLDIE FLANKER, S Clipperton stated that in the middle stages GOLDIE FLANKER did not travel as strongly as it did for him at its last start when successful.

He said the pace of the race in the early stages appeared quicker than last start and carrying top weight in today's race, GOLDIE FLANKER was struggling with the tempo of the race.

He said it had been intended for the horse to be shifted to the outside of runners if at all possible, however, GOLDIE FLANKER was not making up ground sufficiently approaching and rounding the Home Turn for him to be in a position to come to the outside of runners as he had CREME BRULEE racing directly to his outside.

He added at the entrance to the Straight there were a considerable number of runners in the line ahead of GOLDIE FLANKER and he would have had to shift that horse out a considerable number of horses in order to be in a position to get to the outside.

He said as there was clear and uninterrupted running ahead of GOLDIE FLANKER, he elected to continue riding the horse along so that it could make up ground and finish off the race as best as it was able.

He said in the Straight GOLDIE FLANKER finished off the race satisfactorily.

A veterinary inspection of GOLDIE FLANKER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the race, N Callan stated that ROCHFORD, which was wearing a visor for the first time today, did not feel comfortable at any stage of the race and was most disappointing in the manner in which it weakened in the Straight.

A veterinary inspection of ROCHFORD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of KIROV immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GOLDIE FLANKER, STRATHCLYDE and STAR SUPERIOR were sent for sampling.
