Recap by phillip woo

Triumphant Jewel came on nicely travelling fore of midfield along the fence to win going away 60m out to give newbie Alberto Sanna his first win in Hong Kong. He had been disappointing until showing some life signs in his past three starts so a return to the winner's circle wasn't a major surprise. Favourite Money Boy cleared to the front 650m out and kept on gamely for second. He's had a good first campaign and do expect him to continue his rich vein of form when returning a year older. Ace King finished well after travelling behind midfield to just get up for third. He has been running well over the 1,000m at both tracks but might not have too many points in hand. Glorious Partners finished off well after travelling fourth form the rear to just miss a placing in a vastly-improved effort at his fourth start. He might just have had fresher legs than most. Beauty Master had his chance following a box-seat run but only plodded when asked for an effort. He looks tired and does struggle off big weights. Sweetie Barley did get going late near the inside following a rails run behind midfield in a pleasing debut effort. He looks a decent sprinter going forward. Most Beautiful couldn't turn it up another gear following a prominent run. He has some ability but isn't easy to get right on his day.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (793)-LET ME FIGHT HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Metres

TRAVEL COMFORTS was withdrawn on 10.7.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter ALL MY GAIN.

Before being allowed to race again, TRAVEL COMFORTS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

RACING MATE and BIG TIME BABY began only fairly and shortly after the start were crowded for room outside SWEETIE BARLEY which shifted out.

TRIUMPHANT JEWEL and MOST BEAUTIFUL bumped at the start.

From a wide barrier, ALL MY GAIN was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Passing the 950 Metres, BEAUTY MASTER shifted out abruptly.

Approaching the 900 Metres, MONEY BOY shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of WHO ELSE BUT YOU.

BIG TIME BABY lost its left front plate passing the 800 Metres.

Making the turn near the 550 Metres, BEAUTY MASTER got its head on the side and lay out.

When questioned, K Teetan (ACE KING) stated that he was instructed to attempt to lead if ACE KING began well having regard to the horse's prior history of being fractious in the barriers.

He said he was also told that if ACE KING did not show sufficient early speed to lead, it was acceptable for him to take a position with cover behind the leaders.

He said, as is often the case, ACE KING was fractious in the barriers and reared and then as the start was effected began only fairly.

He said as there were a number of horses, which were drawn better than ACE KING, being vigorously ridden to obtain forward positions, he did not believe that ACE KING would have sufficient early speed to be able to lead, therefore he elected to shift the horse across and obtain cover albeit further back in the field than had been intended.

TRIUMPHANT JEWEL and MONEY BOY were sent for sampling.
