Compassion Star ran on well from behind midfield to take control 150m out for a maiden win at his fifth start. He's improved during the break and with blinkers added and can head higher. Godspeed finished well after a deep run without cover in midfield to clearly take second. He lived up to a trial win in blinkers and looks a winner waiting to happen. Strathspey caught the eye with a late burst to take third after a deep run beyond midfield in his season debut. The lightly-raced sort is open to improvement and should get a further trip in time. Well-punted late Let's Take It Easy briefly hit the front at the 200m following a box-seat run tracking a good pace from a wide gate. Amusing City finished well from the back. He's hit the line better in his past two starts despite big weights but seems to want an even further trip. Favourite Noble De Love failed to lift travelling one off fore of midfield in a disappointing performance despite a riding move to Joao Moreira.

Racing Incident Report

AMUSING CITY began awkwardly and lost ground.

AMAZING ALWAYS began only fairly.

From wide barriers, GOAL FOR GOLD and DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Passing the 1200 Metres, NONE OTHER and GODSPEED bumped as a result of GODSPEED laying in away from E-MASTER.

After passing the 1200 Metres, DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS raced tight inside AMUSING CITY which was then directed out to relieve the tightening to DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS.

After the 900 Metres, GODSPEED was left racing wide and without cover.

DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS made the turn after the 900 Metres awkwardly.

Approaching the 500 Metres, SICHUAN CHIEF was awkwardly placed inside the heels of COMPASSION STAR.

DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence.

Passing the 350 Metres, GODSPEED and NOBLE DE LOVE bumped.

In the Straight, AMUSING CITY lay in under pressure.

When questioned, J Moreira (NOBLE DE LOVE) stated that his mount was fractious in the barriers and then as the start was effected began only fairly.

He said he had to ride his mount along in the initial stages to obtain a forward position, however, he was able to obtain a nice run in a position just behind the speed.

He said NOBLE DE LOVE travelled satisfactorily in the middle stages and after being shifted out passing the 500 Metres to obtain clear running, NOBLE DE LOVE immediately came under pressure.

He added NOVEL DE LOVE did not respond to his riding as he expected it to and then was disappointing in the manner in which it gave ground, particularly over the final 200 Metres.

A veterinary inspection of NOBLE DE LOVE immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE DE LOVE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS had bled from both nostrils.

NOBLE DE LOVE, COMPASSION STAR and GODSPEED were sent for sampling.
