Recap by phillip woo

Plunged late Experto Crede responded well when asked for a response following a oneoff run in midfield to get up 50m out for back-to-back wins despite a riding change to Zac Purton. Empire Star came to win the race at the 100m after being left without cover fore of midfield at the 1,000m but found one better on the day. Care Free Prince just held off early favourite Happy Sebring for third after being ridden to lead at all costs from a wide gate. He has been disappointing this campaign but is well-rated off his current mark. Happy Sebring was getting going late after a three-deep run behind midfield to nearly place. The big weight anchored him on this occasion after a second-up win and will have better days going forward. Post-time favourite Emerald Spur was running on well near the outside after settling third last with a step up in distance to build on a smart debut.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (681) - MR MEDICI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

KING'S FAIRY was slow to begin.

Passing the 1100 Metres, AVELLINO commenced to travel keenly and was checked away from the heels of EXPERTO CREDE for some distance.

Making the first turn after the 900 Metres, AVELLINO, which was racing close to the heels of EXPERTO CREDE, was crowded for room between HAPPY SEBRING and EMERALD SPUR which got its head on the side and lay out when awkwardly placed behind COMPASSION STAR.

After the 900 Metres, EMPIRE STAR was left racing wide and without cover.

Rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, EMERALD SPUR and HAPPY SEBRING raced tight.

Then passing the 400 Metres, EMERALD SPUR was shifted to the inside of TRIUMPHANT LIGHT which was commencing to give ground.

A veterinary inspection of TRIUMPHANT LIGHT immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.

Before being allowed to race again, TRIUMPHANT LIGHT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

At the entrance to the Straight, EXPERTO CREDE was shifted to the inside of WAH MAY BABY to obtain clear running.

Then passing the 400 Metres, EXPERTO CREDE raced tight inside WAH MAY BABY which was directed to the inside of A BEAUTIFUL.

Near the 150 Metres, EMERALD SPUR shifted out and bumped HAPPY SEBRING.

Over the concluding stages, EMERALD SPUR was awkwardly placed outside the heels of EMPIRE STAR and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.

KING'S FAIRY lost its left front plate after the race.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on AVELLINO at the request of Trainer P O'Sullivan.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, AVELLINO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

EMERALD SPUR, EXPERTO CREDE and EMPIRE STAR were sent for sampling.
