Racing Incident Report
Race One: (732) - CHAI WAN ROAD HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters
SPARING NO EFFORT was withdrawn on 15.6.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore).
Before being allowed to race again, SPARING NO EFFORT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Shortly after the start, SPEEDY DRAGON was bumped by HORSE BULLET which was taken out by TRIUMPHANT JEWEL.
After this, TRIUMPHANT JEWEL got its head on the side and shifted out away from LIGHTNING STEED, resulting in HORSE BULLET becoming unbalanced when crowded for room between TRIUMPHANT JEWEL and SPEEDY DRAGON and causing HORSE BULLET to lose ground.
In this incident, SPEEDY DRAGON became further unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by HORSE BULLET.
Approaching and passing the 700 Metres, MAJESTIC DRAGON travelled keenly when awkwardly placed behind BUMBLE BABY.
At the 250 Metres, the whip of M Chadwick (BUMBLE BABY) was knocked from his grasp by the whip of T Berry (GENTLE BREEZE).
Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of N Callan (TRIUMPHANT JEWEL), 5th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse's finishing position, he was nonetheless reprimanded for easing down his horse over the concluding stages.
A veterinary inspection of GOKO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GOKO, LIGHTNING STEED and BUMBLE BABY were sent for sampling.

Lightning Speed made a steady bid after a handy run in the centre of the course to just get up 30m out for a maiden win at his third start. He had put the writing on the wall last start at his initial run over this trip . Bumble Baby looked beaten approaching the 200m after vying for the lead two off the stands side but fought back doggedly to make it close on the wire. It was a solid first run of the campaign following throat surgery and his fresh legs might help him get away with a race before season's end . Gentle Breeze gave a bold sight travelling outside Bumble Baby to make it a thriller on the wire in a solid debut. He's got an engine and will be winning races. Favourite Goko couldn't keep the engines going inside the last 100m after striding forward after a sluggish break to share the lead 600m out. The rise in weight for a win was too much to overcome on this occasion. Triumphant Jewel ran on without menacing from behind midfield on the far side.
