Recap by phillip woo

Top Ace came from near last and widest out to win going away 150m out for his first win at his 33rd start. It took the seven-year-old a while for him to score but he has always promised and the Tony Millard stable is on fire. Clement Legend came from behind midfield to grab second 50m out. He had put the writing on the wall over this same Sha Tin trip on closing day and was fitter for an unplaced run at the Valley. Favourite Chiu Chow Kid couldn't sustain his run and had to settle for third after cruising to the lead 300m out. He had to work too hard early on to settling third on the fence. Sensationally-backed Dazzle Winner kept plugging away to hold fourth after stalking the slow pace of The Invincible. He had only one placing to his name in nine other starts but the market indicated a better run was expected. Punted late The Invincible was yielding ground inside the final 150m after clearing to the front from a wide gate. The dirt seems to suit him better.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (73) - BIRCH HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1800Meters

From wide barriers, ROCK THE TREE and TOP ACE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, WONDERFUL CHASER failed to muster speed.

After the 1000 Metres, WONDERFUL CHASER was then left racing wide and without cover.

After the race, C Y Ho stated that although obliged to race wide and without cover throughout the event, he was unable to offer any other explanation for the disappointing performance of WONDERFUL CHASER.

A veterinary inspection of WONDERFUL CHASER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Approaching the 800 Metres, PROUD SKY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ROCKET GO which was steadied away from the heels of DAZZLE WINNER.

Passing the 400 Metres, CLEMENT LEGEND was brushed by HORSE BULLET which lay out when placed under pressure.

THE INVINCIBLE lost its right front plate after the race.

After the race, M L Yeung stated that PROUD SKY travelled satisfactorily during the early and middle stages, however, failed to respond to his riding in the Straight and was disappointing.

A veterinary inspection of PROUD SKY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

CHIU CHOW KID, TOP ACE and CLEMENT LEGEND were sent for sampling.
