Well-backed late, Perfect Match lunged late after pulling out of an early speed battle to get up in the last stride for the win. He followed up a solid debut over the straight 1,000m and has further upside to come. Quadruple Double wouldn't go down without a fight after emerging the clear-cut leader at the 700m following a three-way tussle early on for the front. Favourite Hainan Star was a non-threatening third in the end after travelling greenly in midfield and running about under the whip over the final 300m. He looks and feels a nice sort but requires more education. Strathallan came up one-paced following a prominent run. The combination of a big weight and rise in weight worked against him. Newcomer Wah May Princess was beaten far in the end after going forward three-deep to eventually stalk the leader one off. He's got raw ability. Let's Come Back made some ground late near the inside after travelling third last from a wide gate.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (145) - L'OREAL PARIS HANDICAP - Class 4R - 1200Meters

LE TERROIR began only fairly and was then crowded for room between STRATHALLAN and QUADRUPLE DOUBLE which shifted out.

OUR GREEN began only fairly.

WAH MAY PRINCESS shifted in at the start and bumped PERFECT MATCH.

From wide barriers, LET'S COME BACK, WINNING CIRCLE and BELLA BABY were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

LE TERROIR travelled keenly in the early and middle stages and passing the 1100 Metres got its head up when awkwardly placed behind HAINAN STAR.

Passing the 800 Metres, LE TERROIR again had to be checked away from the heels of HAINAN STAR.

LE TERROIR continued to prove very difficult to settle and approaching the 600 Metres shifted out when awkwardly placed behind HAINAN STAR and bumped SUREWIN, causing both horses to become unbalanced.

BELLA BABY and LET'S COME BACK, which were following SUREWIN and LE TERROIR, were steadied in consequence.

Making the turn near the 900 Metres, BELLA BABY got its head up when being steadied to obtain a position behind SUREWIN.

WAH MAY PRINCESS travelled wide and without cover until near the 650 Metres at which time it was shifted in to race outside the lead.

In the early part of the Straight, PERFECT MATCH lay in under pressure and approaching and passing the 200 Metres was reluctant to shift to the outside of QUADRUPLE DOUBLE.

When being directed to the outside of QUADRUPLE DOUBLE, PERFECT MATCH was awkwardly placed near the heels of that horse which shifted out under pressure.

ROCKAGE had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.

D Whyte (BELLA BABY) dropped his whip near the 50 Metres.

LET'S COME BACK raced with its head on the side and lay out under pressure in the Straight.

HAINAN STAR raced greenly under pressure in the Straight.

A veterinary inspection of LE TERROIR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

HAINAN STAR, PERFECT MATCH and QUADRUPLE DOUBLE were sent for sampling.
