Golden Effort just scraped home by a whisker after leading from a tricky gate for a second win on the dirt this term. He makes his own luck in front but is likely to find it harder following this win. Joyful Contender finished very well after ducking inside for a clear path at the 150m following a one-off run behind midfield to nearly cause an upset at only his fourth start. Dr Race ran on nicely following a midfield run to snatch a placing from favourite Spicy Kaka. He can pop up now. Spicy Kaka just failed to place following a midfield run on the fence. It was another honest performance but he is having trouble saluting. Old-timer Grand Harbour gradually faded after working forward to stalk the leader from a wide gate. He rarely produces a bad run over the dirt trip but needs to draw a gate. Bond Elegance had his chance following a one-out, one-back run. Pakistan Baby ran on without menacing from the back. He requires a faster pace and isn't genuine.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (269) - VICTORIA PARK HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

CHARITYDREAM undertook its required barrier trial on 8 November 2018 with blinkers on and accordingly is required to race with that gear.

Trainer W Y So was fined the sum of $2,000 for failing to submit a gear change adding blinkers to CHARITYDREAM, a declared runner in this race, by the required time.

TEST THE STARS lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and lost ground.

FLYING LOVER stumbled at the start.

Apprentice H N Wong reported that after this FLYING LOVER did not travel comfortably at any stage and did not finish off the race.

DIONYSUS COLLIN began only fairly and shifted out towards the heels of DR RACE.

From the outside barrier, FORMULA GALORE was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

Making the turn after the 700 Metres, DIONYSUS COLLIN got its head on the side and lay out.

Near the 600 Metres, SPICY KAKA was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHARITYDREAM.

Close to the finishing line, PAKISTAN BABY shifted in and bumped FLYING LOVER, causing both horses to become unbalanced.

For the majority of the race, CHARITYDREAM, which was having its first race start, lay in and brushed the running rail rounding the Home Turn and near the 300 Metres became unbalanced after again shifting in towards the running rail.

The racing manners of CHARITYDREAM were considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, CHARITYDREAM will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial around a bend.

A Badel, the rider of the winner GOLDEN EFFORT, was spoken to regarding his riding of that horse over the concluding stages.

A Badel was reminded of the requirement to ensure that he rides his mounts out with sufficient vigour so that his riding is not open to query.

He was also informed of the significant penalties that are imposed on a rider who is found to have not ridden his horses out all the way to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

After the race, J Moreira expressed concern regarding the action of BOND ELEGANCE.

BOND ELEGANCE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was lame in its right front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, BOND ELEGANCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Also after the race, it was noted that SPICY KAKA was lame in its right front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, SPICY KAKA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of CHARITYDREAM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of FLYING LOVER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

SPICY KAKA, GOLDEN EFFORT and JOYFUL CONTENDER were sent for sampling.
