Favourite California Archer led and drew clear at the 100m to score at his 10th start. He's turned the corner ever since joining the Tony Cruz yard and should be able to hold his own up in class off a light weight. Speedy King stayed on well to grab second close to the wire following a handy run on the stands side. Punted late Happy Victory grudgingly gave way travelling underneath the winner in the run. He's given a good sight in both 1,000m runs and doesn't look far off a win. Winning Ways ran on steadily travelling behind midfield on the far side to add some value to the Quartet. He's hard to get right but has come up fourth best over this trip in two of nine starts. I Am Power stayed on OK without ever looking a threat following a midfield run in the center of the track. The big weight anchored him following a last-start win. Diamond Dragon ran on without menacing after getting to the far outside at the 350m travelling second from the rear.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (355) - PO YEE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters

After being loaded into the barriers, MASTER ALBERT reared on a number of occasions and as the start was effected again reared and consequently lost ground.

Before being allowed to race again, MASTER ALBERT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

THE ONE was crowded for room on jumping between CALIFORNIA ARCHER and EXPLOSIVE WITNESS which shifted out.

HAIR TRIGGER began awkwardly.

HAPPY VICTORY and FAIRY TWINS bumped at the start.

Passing the 900 Metres, EXPLOSIVE WITNESS was awkwardly placed outside I AM POWER which shifted out before being straightened by its rider.

In the early stages, EXPLOSIVE WITNESS travelled keenly and after the 700 Metres shifted in and raced tight against I AM POWER.

CHEEKY BEE was held up for clear running close to the finishing line and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.

A veterinary inspection of HAIR TRIGGER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

CALIFORNIA ARCHER and SPEEDY KING were sent for sampling.
