Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Waikuku came on strongly settling second last from a wide gate to win gearing down after hitting the front 150m out for a fourth win from five starts in his first try over the 1,800m. He'll be a major chance in the up-and-coming Derby. Mongolian King came from the rear of the field to deny the late-fancied Enrichment for second. He can produce a good run now and then. Enrichment was only collared for second despite chasing the good pace of Easy Go Easy Win effectively one-out, one-back. Plunged late Sunny Speed wasn't far from placing after a deep run behind midfield without cover the entire trip at only his second local run. Savvy Six was bottled up with nowhere to go until the 150m following a rail run behind midfield. He should have finished closer. Easy Go Easy Win faded after producing a solid gallop in front. He went too hard in front and is likely better ridden held up for a run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (468) - LION CITY HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1800Meters

SAVVY SIX initially proved reluctant to enter the track.

Having regard to SAVVY SIX's previous record, Mr A S Cruz, the trainer of that horse, was told that the Stewards will continue to monitor the raceday behaviour of SAVVY SIX and if the horse continues to prove reluctant to proceed to the Start, action may be taken.

GREEN LUCK began awkwardly.

CHARITY GO became unbalanced on jumping when bumped on the hindquarters by GORGEOUS KING which was taken in by SUNNY SPEED.

MONGOLIAN KING was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

After travelling a short distance, SUNNY SPEED and WAIKUKU were steadied from the outside barriers to obtain cover.

Passing the 400 Metres, SUNNY SPEED momentarily raced in restricted room between WAIKUKU and HEAVENLY THOUGHT which shifted out.

SAVVY SIX was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and near the 350 Metres was directed to the outside of GIANT TURTLE and GREEN LUCK.

SAVVY SIX was then held up for a short distance passing the 250 Metres behind CHARITY GO which was giving ground.

When improving outside CHARITY GO passing the 200 Metres, SAVVY SIX shifted out and bumped GORGEOUS KING.

A veterinary inspection of CHARITY GO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

WAIKUKU and MONGOLIAN KING were sent for sampling.
