Recap by phillip woo

Big Bang Bong got up between runners 120m out for the win following a prominent run on the fence. He was building to a win in recent runs and made full use of a good gate. Racing Luck finished strongly to grab second 30m out sitting near the back from a wide gate. He's been racing very well over this Valley trip. Merrygowin wouldn't go down without a fight after working hard four-deep from an awkward gate to sit outside the leader at the 1,000m. Har Har Heart just failed to get up for a placing after settling oneoff in midfield. He's as honest as the day is long over this Valley trip. Favourite Happy Force gave way inside the final 100m after dictating the run. The step up to a mile proved a shade far on this occasion in his Valley debut. Magnetism got going late from the back without menacing. He'll be a force to be reckoned with from a better draw. Well-backed Top Laurels did not fire after a deep run with cover better than midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (573) - WANGFUJING HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

EPIC was withdrawn on 9.4.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FLYING QUEST (C Schofield).

Before being allowed to race again, EPIC will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

From outside barriers, RACING LUCK, PRETTY BAUHINIA and MAGNETISM were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After travelling a short distance, VOYAGE KING shifted in and bumped FLYING QUEST.

After being left racing wide and without cover passing the winning post on the first occasion, MERRYGOWIN was allowed to improve its position near the 1100 Metres to race outside the lead after the 1000 Metres.

After passing the winning post on the first occasion, TOP LAURELS was left racing wide and without cover.

Passing the 600 Metres, VOYAGE KING was awkwardly placed outside HAR HAR HEART which shifted out to follow TOP LAURELS.

A veterinary inspection of TOP LAURELS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

HAPPY FORCE, BIG BANG BONG and RACING LUCK were sent for sampling.
