Post-time favourite Gouten Of Garo shook off a challenge for the lead from early favourite La Bomba, established a two-length lead rounding the final bend and kept on gamely for an overdue win at his 25th start. Excel Delight got up 150m out for second following a handy run on the fence. He was suited by the class drop. La Bomba gradually gave way after vying for the lead one off the fence. He's given a better sight in his past two starts. Show Mission got going from behind midfield to fill the frame. He's getting closer with each start. Royal Chocolate came up one-paced following a one-out, one-back run. He's more effective over the 1,200m. Winwin Thirtythree was making good ground late without menacing down the outside after struggling to stay in touch at the rear following a tardy break from a wide gate. Demons Rock never let down from the back despite a downgrade. The big weight anchored him but he's likely crying out for a 1,200m trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (199) - HAWICK HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Meters

EXCEL DELIGHT began only fairly.

GREAT VICTORY began only fairly and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of LA BOMBA which shifted out.

DEMONS ROCK began awkwardly and then was bumped on the hindquarters by WHISTLE UP which shifted out.

Despite being hard ridden for a considerable distance in the early and middle stages, WINWIN THIRTYTHREE failed to muster speed.

From the outside barrier, BANDY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Approaching the 600 Metres, HAPPY COOPERATION was awkwardly placed close to the heels of WHISTLE UP.

Throughout the race, TRIUMPHANT LORD travelled wide and without cover.

B Shinn was spoken to regarding the amount of whip he used on TRIUMPHANT LORD when it was out of contention.

He was placed on notice that as this was the second time this season that he had been spoken to regarding this matter, further action may be taken should he offend again in the future.

A veterinary inspection of DEMONS ROCK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of GREAT VICTORY immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.

GOUTEN OF GARO and EXCEL DELIGHT were sent for sampling.
