Odds-on choice Inner Flame just held off the fast-finishing Invincible Missile after fighting back to reclaim the lead from Ka Ying Legend at the 150m. He showed a big heart to remain unbeaten in his three starts despite a rise in class there's likely more improvement to come. Invincible Missile just failed to get up by a bob of the heads after a deep run travelling behind midfield from a wide gate. The swing in the weights was the difference in the end. Ka Ying Legend grudgingly gave way after poking his head in front 300m out tracking the eventual winner. It was a good effort at his first start this season off a career low in the handicaps. Glenealy Generals ran on to fill the frame after twice getting impeded coming to the final bend following a handy run. He should have finished closer. California Archer only plodded after a prominent run along the fence. It was his best effort this term but is still in search of a bottom.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (389) - DAFFODIL HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

G van Niekerk (FIRST RESPONDER) was fined the sum of $2,000 for failing to present himself in the Parade Ring by the required time.

K Teetan (GLENEALY GENERALS) was fined the sum of $3,000 for failing to present himself in the Parade Ring by the required time.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into consideration that this was the third occasion this season that Jockey Teetan had been penalised for this offence.

PERFECT GLORY shifted out at the start and bumped EVEN KEEL which was then steadied away from the heels of HONEST WAY after being taken out by PERFECT GLORY.

INNER FLAME shifted out at the start and bumped HIGH RISE SOLDIER.

From the outside barrier, FIRST RESPONDER was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 1100 Metres, FIRST RESPONDER was steadied away from the heels of HIGH RISE SOLDIER which was awkwardly placed outside INNER FLAME.

After the 800 Metres, INVINCIBLE MISSILE was left racing wide and without cover.

Near the 600 Metres, HONEST WAY was very awkwardly placed behind GLENEALY GENERALS which was awkwardly placed outside the heels of CALIFORNIA ARCHER.

As a result, HONEST WAY was steadied away from the heels of GLENEALY GENERALS.

Then near the 500 Metres, HONEST WAY became unbalanced when being checked away from the heels of GLENEALY GENERALS.

Passing the 500 Metres, GLENEALY GENERALS was shifted out away from the heels of CALIFORNIA ARCHER which shifted out marginally away from WIND N GRASS.

GLENEALY GENERALS was then shifted in away from the heels of INVINCIBLE MISSILE at the entrance to the Straight.

Approaching the 400 Metres, HONEST WAY raced tight between HIGH RISE SOLIDER and INVINCIBLE MISSILE when improving into restricted running between those horses.

Approaching the 250 Metres, HONEST WAY raced tight between HIGH RISE SOLIDER and INVINCIBLE MISSILE which shifted out.

Passing the 100 Metres, PERFECT GLORY was steadied away from the heels of GLENEALY GENERALS which was taken in by CALIFORNIA ARCHER which was shifted in away from the heels of INVINCIBLE MISSILE.

In the Straight, ISLAND SHINE lay in behind INNER FLAME and was reluctant to shift out away from the running rail.

This resulted in ISLAND SHINE being very awkwardly placed behind INNER FLAME for some distance after the 100 Metres and not able to be properly tested.

INNER FLAME and INVINCIBLE MISSILE were sent for sampling.
