Recap by phillip woo

Magic Supreme raced clear approaching the 100m following a box-seat run for a first win at his 11th start. The lighter weight under Alfred Chan Ka-hei's claim and wet track worked the oracle after arriving off a mark of 72. Newcomer Rewarding Together closed well to grab second following a rail run fore of midfield. It was a solid debut and he appears to have a decent engine underneath him. Class dropper Glenealy Generals grudgingly gave way after getting pressure from favourite Monkey Jewellery 500m out following a front-running run from a wide gate carrying top weight. He's a winner waiting to happen at this level. Farm Bumper closed well from behind midfield to fill the frame. This run opens up his options after going well at the Valley in his past four starts. Lady First ran on late down the outside after biding his run second from the rear. Smart Wongchoy ran on reasonably well to just miss a play cheque. It was clearly his best effort.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (720) - PO TIN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

LADY FIRST was noted to have a small amount of blood at the mouth in the Parade Ring.

LADY FIRST was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was suitable to proceed to the Start.

A further examination on arrival at the Start found LADY FIRST to be suitable to race.

MAGIC SUPREME began awkwardly and then became unbalanced after bumping with REWARDING TOGETHER.

SPEEDY DRAGON was slow to begin.

EASY DAZZLING was also slow to begin and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners shortly after the start.

FARM BUMPER and FRESH POWER bumped at the start and were then inconvenienced by AFRICAN SKY which got its head on the side and shifted out.

SMART WONGCHOY lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and began only fairly.

Then from a wide barrier, SMART WONGCHOY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Despite being vigorously ridden in the early stages, LADY FIRST failed to muster speed.

After being crossed by MAGIC SUPREME passing the 1000 Metres, REWARDING TOGETHER got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of that horse.

For some distance after the 850 Metres, FARM BUMPER got its head up when proving difficult to settle and awkwardly placed close to the heels of AFRICAN SKY which was steadied to obtain cover behind MONKEY JEWELLERY.

Approaching the 800 Metres, FRESH POWER was left racing wide and without cover.

After the 300 Metres, GLENEALY GENERALS lay out under pressure.

After the race, J Moreira stated that after being ridden along in the early stages to take up a forward position, MONKEY JEWELLERY travelled well outside the lead.

He said the horse quickened well in the early part of the Straight and then stayed on well until about the 100 Metres at which stage its run ended and MONKEY JEWELLERY gave ground over the concluding stages.

A veterinary inspection of MONKEY JEWELLERY immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, MONKEY JEWELLERY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Also after the race, K Teetan stated that MILLENNIUM FALCON, which was having its first race start at Sha Tin today, got its head on the side and was inclined to lay out after the 600 Metres before making the Home Turn awkwardly when SMART WONGCHOY improved to its inside.

A veterinary inspection of MILLENNIUM FALCON immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

A veterinary inspection of SPEEDY DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
