Recap by phillip woo

Firming backed late to jump favourite Charitydream led and kept finding to score a maiden win at his 13th start and first under trainer Michael Chang Chun-wai. He relished a return to the dirt and had nothing on his back. Sky Gem ran on nicely from towards the rear to snatch second on the wire. He's crying out for a further trip. One of a few early favourites Art Of Raw plodded over the last 150m after having to wait until the 200m to gain a clear run following a box-seat run. Green Generation closed well two from the right to finish in the mix for the minors travelling behind midfield on the fence. He has been building towards a win in recent runs on either surface. Good Runners Way was yielding ground passing the 200m after stalking the winner in the run from a wide gate. It was his first run in over 200-days following a tendon injury. Keep Winning came up flat inside the last 100m after a handy run. Like the latter, he likely needed the outing.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (37) - TAI WO HAU HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Meters

GREEN GENERATION lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and began only fairly.

Shortly after the start, GREEN GENERATION and KEEP WINNING bumped.

WILLFUL shifted out at the start and made contact with YOUNG GLORY, causing WILLFUL to lose ground.

PROUD SKY and SKY GEM bumped at the start.

After this, from the outside barriers, PROUD SKY and SKY GEM were shifted across behind runners.

Making the turn after the 700 Metres, GREEN GENERATION was awkwardly placed behind KEEP WINNING.

Passing the 450 Metres, GREEN GENERATION shifted out away from the heels of SKY GEM which also shifted out.

At the entrance to the Straight, ART OF RAW raced tight inside GOOD RUNNERS WAY which hung in and proved difficult to ride.

ART OF RAW and GOOD RUNNERS WAY then raced tight approaching the 150 Metres as ART OF RAW shifted out to obtain clear running and GOOD RUNNERS WAY continued to lay in.

When GOOD RUNNERS WAY was corrected, it shifted out and inconvenienced FORTUNE BUDDY.

For the majority of the race, WILLFUL travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, K C Leung stated that after obtaining a good position in the early and middle stages, HAY RUN came under heavy pressure prior to the 600 Metres and he had to ride his mount aggressively to maintain its position.

He said after this, despite being hard ridden, HAY RUN did not respond and failed to close off the race as anticipated.

He added that HAY RUN's best form is over races longer than the 1650 Metres of today's race and was of the view that the horse would be better suited over further ground.

A veterinary inspection of HAY RUN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Also after the race, it was reported that CHARITYDREAM had sustained a laceration to the right hock.

A veterinary inspection of GOOD RUNNERS WAY and YOUNG GLORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

ART OF RAW, CHARITYDREAM and SKY GEM were sent for sampling.
