Well-backed late Amazing Star won going away 150m out after getting a perfect ride slotting one-off in fourth from a wide gate under Alfred Chow Chun-lok. He relished a return to his favourite Valley 1,200m with the claim well utilised. Golden Dash stayed on well to grab second 100m out tracking the speed in third. He rarely produces a bad run over this course and distance. Favourite California Rad closed reasonably well following a one-off run in midfield to grab a placing 50m out. He ran with merit stepping into Class Two for the first time following a win 15 days back. Beauty Applause found a few too smart after quickly finding the lead from an outside draw. It wasn't a bad effort first time under the Valley lights. Massive Pocket left things too late after biding his time second from the rear. He's coming off a good season and this was a positive run. Ugly Warrior held his ground travelling better than midfield on the fence. It wasn't a bad run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (54) - BIG WAVE BAY HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters

BEAUTY AMIGO began only fairly.

MEGA HEART began awkwardly and then was crowded for room shortly after the start between CALIFORNIA RAD and GOLDEN DASH, both of which shifted ground.

BEAUTY APPLAUSE shifted out at the start, resulting in AMAZING STAR being taken out onto WALDORF.

From a wide barrier, MASSIVE POCKET was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

K Teetan (CALIFORNIA RAD) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in and to make contact with UGLY WARRIOR and bumped that horse unnecessarily, causing both UGLY WARRIOR and CALIFORNIA RAD to become unbalanced and for UGLY WARRIOR to shift in across the rightful running of TOUCH OF LUCK which was checked.

K Teetan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 7 October 2020 and to expire on Monday, 12 October on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Teetan's good race riding record.

Despite being ridden along throughout the middle stages, WALDORF raced detached from the field.

A veterinary inspection of WALDORF, BEAUTY AMIGO and TEAM SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

CALIFORNIA RAD, AMAZING STAR and GOLDEN DASH were sent for sampling.

GENERAL:

1.

After the running of Race 1, the track classification was officially changed from "Good??to "Good to Firm?? This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.

As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 1 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm??

Races 3 - 8 were each put back 5 minutes.

20 September 2020 Sha Tin Racemeeting - Race 4 (40) The Stewards tonight interviewed J Moreira (THE HULK) regarding video footage of him when riding that horse to the barriers in this race.

After considering Jockey Moreira's evidence and after viewing the videos which were available to the Stewards, J Moreira pleaded guilty to a charge of improper conduct, such improper conduct being that when proceeding to the barrier stalls on THE HULK, he did forcefully jolt on the mouth of the horse on a number of occasions and did also forcefully slap the right rein against the horse's neck.

After taking into consideration all the relevant factors, J Moreira was fined the sum of $10,000.
