Recap by phillip woo

Late-fancied favourite Regency Master drew clear after hitting the front 150m out following a box-seat run for a second win from his past three starts. He's a nice progressive type and was fitter for a run last month at Sha Tin. Play Wise stayed on well for second following a handy run. He's gone very well in both starts this season and can get away with a race shortly. Zhan Jiang Rocks finished nicely near the inside to fill a placing after being ridden for luck at the rear from a wide gate. He's pretty honest at this level over this course and distance. Melbourne Hall made some ground one from the outside to fill the frame after travelling five back along the fence. Starlit Knight ran on steadily without menacing following a rails run in midfield. He appeared to need the run. Perfect To Play made some ground along the inside without ever looking a chance. Early favourite Amazing Luck was never a factor after making his run third from the rear.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (89) - SHEK PIK HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

GO BALLISTIC shifted in at the start and made contact with PLAY WISE.

ZHAN JIANG ROCKS shifted in at the start and bumped SMART COUSIN.

Then from the outside barrier, ZHAN JIANG ROCKS was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

PERFECT TO PLAY and MELBOURNE HALL were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.

Despite being ridden along for some distance in the early stages, STARLIT KNIGHT failed to muster speed.

Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, PLAY WISE and GO BALLISTIC raced tight.

Rounding the Home Turn, V CHEVALIERS was taken wider by MELBOURNE HALL which shifted to the outside of PLAY WISE to improve.

In the early part of the Straight, MELBOURNE HALL raced with its head on the side and lay out.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of AMAZING LUCK, Z Purton stated that it was intended for the horse to be ridden in a forward position.

He said, despite being ridden along in the early stages, AMAZING LUCK did not show early speed and for this reason was required to race further back in the field than had been intended.

He said AMAZING LUCK travelled only fairly in the middle stages and after coming under pressure prior to the 500 Metres then did not finish off the race.

He added, despite being ridden along in the early part of the Straight, AMAZING LUCK gave ground and then weakened over the concluding stages.

A veterinary inspection of AMAZING LUCK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of AMAZING LUCK, a favoured runner in tonight's race and which finished near the rear of the field, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, AMAZING LUCK will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of SMART COUSIN and V CHEVALIERS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

REGENCY MASTER and PLAY WISE were sent for sampling.
