Racing Incident Report
Race One: (317) - PATERSON HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters
SHANGHAI POWER was slow to begin.
TIGERLAD shifted out at the start and made contact with VIVA MAMA.
REGENCY POET began awkwardly, shifted in and inconvenienced GOLDEN MISSION.
From wide barriers, ALLOY STAR and FOR FUN'S SAKE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 900 Metres, DESTINE JEWELLERY was steadied away from the heels of TIGERLAD which was also steadied to allow VIVA MAMA to cross.
At the 800 Metres, VITAL SPRING was left racing wide and without cover.
At the entrance to the Straight, SHANGHAI POWER was awkwardly placed near the heels of DESTINE JEWELLERY.
Passing the 300 Metres, DESTINE JEWELLERY was shifted to the inside of TIGERLAD to obtain clear running.
After the race, J Moreira was unable to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of DESTINE JEWELLERY.
A veterinary inspection of DESTINE JEWELLERY immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, DESTINE JEWELLERY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
DESTINE JEWELLERY, FORTUNE HERO and TIGERLAD were sent for sampling.

Fortune Hero kept on gamely after hitting the front 150m out following a pace-stalking run for a maiden win at his ninth start and second straight in the grade. He did place three back in a higher grade. Tigerlad stayed on nicely for second after getting a lovely run in the box-seat. He's got a win in his sights. Vital Spring ran on well to fill a placing after a wide run without cover behind midfield. He run well to place in back-to-back runs and can bob up at any moment. Regency Poet ran on steadily to fill the frame after slotting one off in midfield from a tricky gate 800m out. He should be able to find his mark in this grade. Wayfoong Charmer was rather one-paced when asked for an effort following a one-out, one-back run. He's more effective on the dirt. Viva Mama weakened over the last 100m after rolling to the lead 1,000m out. He might be more effective ridden quietly. Favourite Destine Jewellery never fired following a rails run in midfield. It was a disappointing performance after finishing runner-up in two of four prior Class Five starts.
