Favourite Eligere defied a wide run without cover chasing the speed to take control 200m out for a first win at his 20th start. He beat nothing and will find it harder again in Class Three. Zacian ran on well to grab second 100m out after getting a nice run one off in midfield from an outside draw. He was able to build on an improved effort last start on the dirt. Sunday Betting made good ground near the outside from behind midfield to fill a placing. It was a better performance at his sixth start and first under Joao Moreira. Punted late Go Go Sixteen ran on late from toward the rear to fill the frame. He's flashed potential in two of his three starts but is still a work in progress and likely to need a longer trip. Marado ran on all right after a deep run with cover behind midfield in an encouraging debut effort. Chiu Chow Brother just held his ground after a handy run along the fence. It was a better effort second up following a rise in trip and move to blinkers but will need more time and experience. Lucky Ruby gave way over the last 100m after a pacestalking run. He's on his mark on this surface after back-to-back wins on the dirt. Fantastic Fabio faded after dictating the run. He's a Valley horse.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (652) - DAPHNE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

LUCKY RUBY shifted out at the start and bumped SUNDAY BETTING.

GLADSOME RYDER began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped MULTIPOWER which was then crowded for room outside ELIGERE which shifted out.

MULTIPOWER then shifted out away from ELIGERE, resulting in GLADSOME RYDER losing ground when crowded for room inside GO GO SIXTEEN.

From the outside barriers, MARADO and THE ELITES were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

GO GO SIXTEEN was also steadied shortly after the start to obtain cover.

Passing the 1100 Metres, SUNDAY BETTING shifted in and bumped CHIU CHOW BROTHER when awkwardly placed inside the heels of LITTLE PLAYER.

Making the turn at the 900 Metres, MULTIPOWER was eased when crowded for room inside CHIU CHOW BROTHER which was taken in by LITTLE PLAYER (C Schofield).

C Schofield was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Approaching the 600 Metres, LITTLE PLAYER lay out and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ELIGERE.

In the early part of the Straight, GO GO SIXTEEN lay in and was reluctant to improve to the outside of MARADO.

ZACIAN lost its left hind plate in the early part of the Straight.

Passing the 100 Metres, J Moreira (SUNDAY BETTING) dropped his whip.

As this was the third occasion this season that Jockey Moreira had been reported to have dropped his whip, he was placed on notice that should he offend again in the near future, further action may be taken.

Throughout the race, ELIGERE travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of GLADSOME RYDER immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm and an endoscopic examination also showed a substantial amount of mucus in its trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, GLADSOME RYDER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

ELIGERE and ZACIAN were sent for sampling.
