Racing Incident Report
Race One: (662) - TUNG LUNG CHAU HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters
On arrival at the Start, Z Purton expressed concern regarding the action of THE ABRAXAS.
A veterinary examination of THE ABRAXAS found that horse to be lame in the left front leg and accordingly was not suitable to race.
Acting on this advice, THE ABRAXAS was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.
Before being allowed to race again, THE ABRAXAS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
REGENCY GEM was slow to begin and then despite being vigorously ridden along for some distance in the early and middle stages was detached from the field.
VALIANT ELEGANCE began awkwardly and then lost ground when bumped by YEE CHEONG LUCKY which shifted out after stumbling on jumping.
VALIANT ELEGANCE then became unbalanced and shifted out towards the heels of STAR SUPERIOR.
After this, VALIANT ELEGANCE was ridden along for some distance to improve its position.
NOBLE MAN shifted out at the start and hampered SPLENDID TIMING.
Then, despite being ridden along in the early stages, SPLENDID TIMING was detached from the field.
From the outside barrier, EVER STRONG was shifted across behind runners shortly after the start.
Approaching the 800 Metres, YEE CHEONG LUCKY raced tight between RUN DES RUN and STAR SUPERIOR which was awkwardly placed inside NOBLE MAN.
In the early part of the Straight, NOBLE MAN got its head on the side and lay in and approaching the 50 Metres shifted out and brushed YEE CHEONG LUCKY.
Throughout the race, NOBLE MAN travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of REGENCY GEM and YEE CHEONG LUCKY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
JADE THEATRE and KA YING BRILLIANCE were sent for sampling.

Favourite Jade Theatre produced a late dash after a box-seat run to overhaul long-time leader Ka Ying Brilliance in the final few metres for the win. His new trainer Ricky Yiu Poon-fai's done a terrific job of getting him to salute off a couple of runs. Ka Ying Brilliance gave a cheeky sight after straightening two lengths on top after emerging with the lead 1,000m out. He caught the eye in his initial course and distance performance last start. Valiant Elegance kept plugging away to hold down third following a pace-stalking run. He's a winner waiting to happen. Star Superior surged late from behind midfield to fill a quartet spot without menacing the top three. It was a better effort with a return to his favourite dirt surface. Filly Lucky Maryknoll kept on one-paced after a one-out, oneback run. It was her best run to date trying the AWT 1,200m for the first time. Ever Strong was running on late after settling third last from the widest draw. He's well rated but needs to draw a proper gate. Punted late, Regency Gem made some ground late from a detached spot after missing the start.
