Recap by phillip woo

Destin took control 150m out after enjoying a perfect ride fourth along the fence for a third career win over this course and distance. He's always dangerous at this level. Favourite Jiangxi Stamina ran on nicely one from the outside to grab second 50m out after settling four deep travelling third last from a wide draw. It was another good effort without winning this season. Sure Win Win closed well to fill a placing after biding his time fifth last between runners. It was his best run to date following a gear change. The Full Bloom got going late down the outside to fill the frame after making his run three deep at the rear of the field from an outside draw. Blazing Partners couldn't sustain his run 100m out after hitting the front 350m out tracking the leader Kelmini Wins on the fence. He's had a lot of racing which may have taken its toll late but it was another honest effort overt this course and distance. Run Des Run made some ground late without menacing along the inside after a patient ride third from the rear. It was a better performance.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (690) - PRECISION HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1400Meters

Whilst in the saddling stalls, BLAZING PARTNERS had its left front plate refitted.

BLAZING PARTNERS was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

BRAVE POWER was crowded for room on jumping between FUN TIMES and BLAZING PARTNERS which shifted out.

DESTIN shifted out on jumping, resulting in SURE WIN WIN being inconvenienced.

From the outside barrier, ALLOY KING travelled keenly in the early stages when being steadied to obtain cover.

Then throughout the race, ALLOY KING was left racing wide and without cover.

Despite being vigorously ridden for some distance in the early stages, SHANGHAI GRACE was slow to muster speed.

Passing the 1200 Metres, VICTORIOUS LEADER became unbalanced when crowded for room inside SHANGHAI GRACE which was taken in by BLAZING PARTNERS which was in turn taken in by KELMIMI WINS (H Bentley).

H Bentley was reprimanded and told to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

Approaching the 1100 Metres, VICTORIOUS LEADER was awkwardly placed outside the heels of DESTIN when being steadied to obtain a position with cover.

SURE WIN WIN was held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn.

M Chadwick (BLAZING PARTNERS) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 350 Metres he failed to make sufficient endeavour to prevent his mount from shifting out which resulted in DESTIN being taken out across the rightful running of RED ZOFFANY which as a result was checked.

SHANGHAI GRACE, which was following RED ZOFFANY, was steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence and shifted to the inside of RED ZOFFANY which then commenced to give ground.

M Chadwick was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Thursday, 1 July 2021 and to expire on Thursday, 8 July 2021 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays).

In addition, Jockey Chadwick was fined $45,000.

Approaching the 300 Metres, SURE WIN WIN was shifted out away from the heels of ALLOY KING to obtain clear running.

Passing the 300 Metres, HAPPY WINNER was bumped by FUN TIMES which, when improving into tight running outside VICTORIOUS LEADER, was awkwardly placed outside that horse which shifted out.

Throughout the race, RED ZOFFANY travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of VICTORIOUS LEADER, J Moreira stated that his mount travelled satisfactorily in about a midfield position until rounding the Home Turn when it came under pressure.

He said after shifting to the outside of ALLOY KING in the early part of the Straight, he rode his mount along, however, VICTORIOUS LEADER did not respond to his riding and after shifting ground near the 300 Metres then commenced to give ground and weakened out of the race noticeably over the concluding stages.

A veterinary inspection of VICTORIOUS LEADER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of SHANGHAI GRACE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

DESTIN and JIANGXI STAMINA were sent for sampling.
