Recap by phillip woo

Packing Treadmill won with something in hand after hitting the front 230m out following a speed-chasing run from a tricky gate. He remains perfect in two starts and clearly has the tools to hold his own in a higher grade. Science Patch ran on nicely after a wide with cover run better than midfield to grab second. He's a winner waiting to happen. Good Beauty ran on well near the outside to make it close for second after a patient ride deep towards the rear. He returned to Class Four full of confidence following a win. Odds-on favourite Fun N Glory ran on to finish fourth without menacing the top three after getting badly held up for a run until the 150m travelling one-off behind midfield. Gallant Hero ran on reasonably well to earn a minor cheque after making his run among the backmarkers. He's heading in the right direction. Birdsville made some ground late down the outside after settling second last from a wide draw. He's not far off a bottom. Turin Warrior ran on without menacing from the rear of the field. He's shown flashes of ability in his five starts but is still acclimatising and likely requires a longer trip. Moeraki had his chance after a handy run with money for him late. He's better suited on the dirt.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (496) - TING KOK HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

L Ferraris (HAPPILY FRIENDS) was fined $2,000 for initially presenting himself to be weighed out with the incorrect saddle cloth number.

UNITED ENDEAVORS began awkwardly and then was bumped by MOERAKI which shifted in.

FUN N GLORY shifted in at the start and hampered DOUBLE SHOW which lost ground.

TURIN WARRIOR began only fairly and then was shifted across behind runners.

From the outside barrier, BIRDSVILLE was steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.

After travelling a short distance, MOERAKI shifted out, resulting in FUN N GLORY being taken out onto GALLANT HERO which became unbalanced after being bumped by FUN N GLORY.

For some distance approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, MOERAKI travelled keenly and got its head up when being steadied to obtain cover.

Passing the 700 Metres, MOERAKI, which was continuing to travel keenly, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PACKING TREADMILL.

Passing the 700 Metres, TURIN WARRIOR shifted out and bumped BIRDSVILLE which became unbalanced.

UNITED ENDEAVORS had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.

Passing the 400 Metres, TURIN WARRIOR was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOOD BEAUTY when having difficulty obtaining clear running.

Approaching the 300 Metres, MOERAKI bumped the hindquarters of BRAVE DREAMS when attempting to improve between that horse and PACKING TREADMILL.

FUN N GLORY, which was following MOERAKI, was held up for clear running behind that horse.

Then passing the 300 Metres, FUN N GLORY shifted out, resulting in GALLANT HERO being taken out onto TURIN WARRIOR which was inconvenienced.

FUN N GLORY was then directed in to relieve the crowding to GALLANT HERO which resulted in FUN N GLORY being very awkwardly placed close to the heels of BRAVE DREAMS.

FUN N GLORY then had some difficulty obtaining clear running until approaching the 100 Metres.

Then over the final 50 Metres, FUN N GLORY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SCIENCE PATCH and because of this was not able to be fully tested.

Passing the 50 Metres, DOUBLE SHOW was shifted out away from the heels of MOERAKI.

When questioned, M Chadwick (BRAVE DREAMS) stated that, from a wide barrier, he was asked to ride his mount positively in the early stages and obtain a position with cover in advance of midfield.

He said in accordance with his instructions he rode his mount along in the early stages and was hopeful to follow PACKING TREADMILL across to obtain a position closer to the rail.

He said as he was doing this MOERAKI shifted out away from the heels of PACKING TREADMILL approaching the 900 Metres which required him to continue to ride forward of that horse rather than remain racing in a three wide position without cover.

He said as he rode forward of MOERAKI passing the 800 Metres, PACKING TREADMILL remained racing in a position one horse off the rail which resulted in BRAVE DREAMS racing in three wide without cover and in a position more forward than had been anticipated.

He said BRAVE DREAMS, which was having only its third race start today, raced greenly throughout the race and after coming under heavy pressure in the early part of the Straight did not finish the race off.

He said given the manner in which BRAVE DREAMS performed in today's race, he advised connections that the horse may be better suited when ridden with cover and more quietly than it was today.

A veterinary inspection of BRAVE DREAMS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of MOERAKI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

FUN N GLORY, PACKING TREADMILL and SCIENCE PATCH were sent for sampling.
