Racing Incident Report
Race Nine: (681) - GRASS ISLAND HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters
EASON shifted out at the start and bumped THE RUNNER.
From wide barriers, EXPLOSIVE WITNESS and SCORES OF FUN were shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.
Approaching the 800 Metres, LUCKY WITH YOU raced tight inside the heels of EASON.
After the 800 Metres, VOYAGE WARRIOR was left racing wide and without cover.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, SCORES OF FUN and THE RUNNER bumped.
EXPLOSIVE WITNESS made the turn after the 600 Metres awkwardly.
After the race, C Y Ho stated that, in his opinion, EASON's run tonight was better than it may have appeared.
He said after shifting to the outside of CAMPIONE approaching the 400 Metres, EASON then made the Home Turn awkwardly which resulted in the horse losing momentum.
He said EASON then took some time to regain momentum and then finished the race off satisfactorily.
A veterinary inspection of EASON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of CAMPIONE, M F Poon stated that after beginning awkwardly, CAMPIONE was then awkwardly placed close to the heels of KEEP YOU WARM near the 1150 Metres when racing tight inside GRATEFUL HEART.
He said CAMPIONE, which was racing at Happy Valley for the first time tonight, then raced greenly throughout and in the Straight did not finish the race off.
He said, in his opinion, the horse's performance tonight was attributable to the manner in which it began when racing at the circuit for the first time.
A veterinary inspection of CAMPIONE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
CAMPIONE, KEEP YOU WARM and LUCKY WITH YOU were sent for sampling.

Keep You Warm won eased down after hitting the front 150m out after a perfect run chasing the speed on the fence for a deserving second win this season after filling the frame in six of his past eight starts. Lucky With You ran on well from midfield to grab second without menacing the winner. It was another good effort trying the Valley for the first time following a huge rise in the weights after a win. Explosive Witness rattled home from last to fill a placing. He's made a good impression in his past two of five starts following a fetlock injury. Voyage Warrior stayed on nicely to just get the head down for fourth after a wide trip without cover in midfield. It was another good effort over the city circuit this term. Mclucky was one-paced over the last 100m after reclaiming the lead from Highly Proactive coming to the home bend. It was a better effort at just his second run this term following a tendon injury. Eason just held his ground after travelling better than midfield. This was a different kettle of fish after starting his career with three wins and three seconds in lower grades. The Runner ran on without menacing after biding his time one from the rear. He's better suited in Class Three.
