Racing Incident Report
Race Five: (735) - DANDELION HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
OCTOCONNECT began only fairly and then shortly after the start lost ground after shifting in towards the heels of LESLIE.
STOICISM shifted out at the start and hampered HARDLY SWEARS.
BIRDSVILLE shifted out at the start and bumped ISLAND SURPRISE.
BIRDSVILLE was then crowded for room between ISLAND SURPRISE and GLORIFIED FIRE which shifted out.
After this, BIRDSVILLE was shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier.
Also from the outside barrier, OVERSUBSCRIBED was steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain a position closer to the rail in the early stages.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, HAPPY LAND was momentarily awkwardly placed outside the heels of LESLIE when being shifted across behind that horse.
Making the turn near the 1050 Metres, OCTOCONNECT, which was having its first race start tonight, raced greenly and became unbalanced when reluctant to maintain its position inside JAZZ STEED.
Making the turn after the 1000 Metres, OVERSUBSCRIBED got its head on the side and lay out and then along the Back Straight travelled keenly and continued to lay out.
BIRDSVILLE made the turn after the 600 Metres awkwardly and shifted out towards the heels of JAZZ STEED.
BIRDSVILLE continued to lay out and remained awkwardly placed inside JAZZ STEED and close to the heels of OCTOCONNECT passing the 500 Metres.
Approaching the 100 Metres, SHINING FORTUNE was eased away from the heels of HARDLY SWEARS which was taken in by STOICISM.
JAZZ STEED was shifted out away from the heels of SHINING FORTUNE in consequence.
HARDLY SWEARS then got its head on the side and lay in under pressure and close to the finishing line was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LESLIE.
A veterinary inspection of SHINING FORTUNE and OVERSUBSCRIBED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
STOICISM and LESLIE were sent for sampling.

Top-weighted Stoicism just got up in the shadows of the post to deny favourite Leslie after a prominent run on the fence for a first win at his 17th start. He had put the writing on the wall last start at this level. Leslie found one just too good on the day after hitting the front 200m out after tracking the leader Glorified Fire on the fence. He has been costly. Hardly Swears ran on nicely to finish a close third after a rails run in midfield. He's been in the thick of the finish in each of his three starts this term. Punted late, Harrier Jet stayed on well after a one-off run better than midfield to just edge Island Surprise for fourth. The old-timer has been knocking on the door but likely needs a drop in class. Island Surprise ran on steadily to just miss the frame after a wide run without cover in midfield from a wide draw. He has been hovering around the finish without winning in his past four starts. Happy Land made some ground without menacing after a one-off trip behind midfield for his new trainer. He was having his first run since January but is still in search of a bottom. Shining Fortune was stopping 100m out after a pace-stalking run. The quick back-up off a ground-covering defeat last Wednesday backfired.
